Wild dog pack blamed for sheep attacks near Toddville
Linn County sheriff reports a pack of wild dogs attacked sheep on three farms over the weekend. Two dogs were killed by Robert E. Knight after a second attack, with losses totaling 1050 dollars as ewes and a ram were destroyed and others injured. A separate Christmas Day attack near Center Point killed four ewes and five lambs.

Marion Police Report Decline in Arrests and Crime
Recent snowy cold weather kept criminals indoors in Marion and crime reports reflect a downturn. Last week saw three criminal mischief cases, 14 thefts all bad checks, one burglary, with arrests of three adults for traffic warrant from Cedar Rapids, criminal mischief, and intoxication. Traffic tickets also fell to 21 speeding and 14 other offenses.

Ten sets of red padded seats, part of an $80,000 GM mistake on 20 buses, arrived by semitrailer in Cedar Rapids. City officials found the uncushioned fiberglass seats during a Pontiac assembly trip in October. GM will spend about $4,000 per bus to correct the error. city transit crews will install the seats as time allows. the remaining 10 sets are due soon.
