The highway commission submitted plans to the city council for a new concrete bridge over Milwaukee rail tracks on highway 151 near Cedar Park as part of a four lane Cedar Rapids to Marion project. Rep. Case says the War Department told him officials want to avoid calling into active duty any medical reserve officer who is the sole physician in his community. The remark was discussed Thursday in Washington.
William Allen White, 72, publisher of the Emporia Gazette, said he will resign as chairman of the America by Aiding the Allies committee but stay until a successor is chosen. He urged a young man take the post full time and urged continued support for aid to Great Britain. He noted the group’s work and thanked citizens who funded it.

White retires for two reasons including the movement's vast scope and his business interests, and Mrs. White’s failing health prompting a trip to Arizona.
