Synthetic brain hormone may lead to monthly birth control pill
Scientists at the University of California, San Diego report a synthetic brain hormone that could yield a once-a-month birth control pill with fewer side effects. In a two-year pilot study, 17 fertile women received injections of LRFagonist, delaying implantation by inducing luteal phase defect. No side effects noted, but long-term safety awaits further trials.
