Edward Poe, a 46 year old mechanic, phoned for police during a gas station break in. He tried to detain the burglar, was struck with a bottle, chased the man, and was bitten by a German Shepherd. Residents, misled by the dog’s bite, attacked Poe until a police officer arrived and arrested the suspect.
