In a Class 2A district final at Xavier High School Cedar Rapids the Stormin Pointers beat Tipton 44 40 after overtime as CPU delivered perfect free throws. They advance to a substate final against Cascade at Cedar Rapids Prairie at 7 p m Saturday.
Center Point Urbana beat Tipton 36 33 in overtime after a tense 31 31 regulation tied game. Brian Ashlock scored 13 points, including a go ahead three point play with 1 43 left in overtime securing the win and a spot in the state tournament March 12 17.
Michigan State 51 Wisconsin 47 as No. 3 MSU overcomes a late Wisconsin surge to stay tied for first in the Big Ten with Illinois. Hutson scores 18 for MSU, Penney 13 for Wisconsin, Boone and Thomas key late free throws seal the win.
MFL MarMac defeats North Fayette 58 56 to reach the substate final against Cedar Falls N High. Ben Muff leads North Fayette with 18 points, while Mor gan Gage adds 14 for the Huskies. The J Hawks defeated Washington 72 63 in a balanced attack led by Cody Doonan 18 points and Tiedtke 11 Dollmeyer 11 while Washington senior Austin Seward 17 and sophomore Dallas Hodges 18 kept it tight.
