Iowa approves first fuel tax hike since 1989 for roads

The split Legislature passed a bipartisan transportation funding bill boosting the state fuel tax by a dime and aircraft fuel by 2 cents. The measure, approved 28-21 in the Senate and 53-46 in the House, aims to raise about $204 million in fiscal 2016 to address road and bridge needs and expand bond limits for upgrades.
