Iowa Supreme Court orders new trial for babysitter
The Iowa Supreme Court ordered a new trial for LeAnn Werts of Altoona, convicted of first degree murder in 2000 for the death of 21 month old Ben Vorwerk. A neighbor's testimony should have been excluded and prosecutors were accused of steering the jury. The ruling also notes concerns about plea deals and charitable donations in sentencing.
