Canberra reports that John Stonehouse, a British Labour MP who vanished in Miami Beach, is mentally ill and ordered to leave Australia within three days after losing parliamentary immunity. Immigration Minister Clyde Cameron said a psychiatric exam found a mental breakdown and a depressed paranoid state. Stonehouse, 49, used an assumed name in Australia while withholding his resignation. a special committee weighs expulsion as his absence narrows Labour's majority. Health officials cited failure to meet health criteria. Cameron warned he must depart once no longer a member of parliament.
