Cedar Rapids gains first all girls youth hockey team Maidens
Coach Jason Johnson started the Maidens after his daughter joined the Junior RoughRider program. The 5 to 13 year olds quickly grew from 12 to about 25 players with girls from house leagues and instructional hockey. They compete at 8U and 10U levels and will add 12U next year. The team travels to an all girls Illinois tournament and emphasizes fun over victory.
