Iowa City marks the 125th anniversary of the University of Iowa. President Willard Boyd recalls the 1860 House File 130 founding the state’s first public university and its mission to provide liberal education to all, with over 20,000 students today.
West Union Fayette county Democrats hold their county convention at 8 p.m. Saturday in Colegrove Walker auditorium on the Upper Iowa campus in Fayette. Two conventions will be held the same evening with delegates elected to district presidential and statutory conventions based on candidate interest. The central committee will elect a chairman and vice chairman for a two year term. A platform committee meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. prior to the convention.
