Go bowling event Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Legacy Lanes in Monticello to raise funds for Camp Courageous. Coe College Professor Emeritus Floyd Sandford leads a four part Armchair Adventures series in Kesler Lecture Hall Hickok Hall on the Coe campus. Sessions begin with coffee and pastries at 8 45 to 9 15 a m and run to 11 30 a m with registration on site. The four sessions cover Peru New Zealand and Australia Egypt Southern England Scotland and Down House home of Darwin. The full series costs 30 dollars or 10 dollars per week.
Cedar Rapids resident Feryl York, 32, crowned Mrs Iowa International in September after a decade pageant hiatus, champions leukemia and lymphoma awareness through her platform. A physical therapist assistant and Kirkwood Community College instructor, York credits her mother’s cancer battle for fueling her advocacy.
Feryl York promotes the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Go Red For Women. She chairs Light the Night Walk in Iowa City and is Iowa’s representative for the Mrs International pageant. The national event in Chicago includes interview and speeches, with a gala in Des Moines.
