Plan Iowa Liquor System Similar To Canada's WOULD LICENSE BOTH PURCHASERS

AP reports a proposed Iowa liquor control bill to federally authorized manufacturers and sellers under state supervision. The plan mirrors Canadian models with county temperance committees issuing purchase permits for high and low content beverages, state stores, licensing, and a five member state liquor commission with seven year terms and 4800 dollar salaries. It sets permit types, fees, monthly purchase limits, and rules on where and how alcohol may be bought, including beer tavern limits and meals-only service for high content liquor.
