Reed credits conservatives for Iowa win push for governor
Ralph Reed told the Iowa Christian Coalition convention in Waukee that religious conservatives helped President Bush win a narrow Iowa victory and must now focus on electing a governor who shares their values. Reed led the Christian Coalition until 1997 and noted Bush recruited more than 26 000 volunteers in Iowa, with over a quarter from religious conservatives. Bush carried Iowa by about 13 000 votes.
