Iowa House introduces House Study Bill 138 seeking a stand your ground style reform to gun laws. The measure would drop permit renewal requirements and allow minors to handle handguns with a parent or guardian present.
U S senators Grassley and Ernst returned to Iowa for town halls in Iowa Falls Garner and Maquoketa and were confronted by large crowds criticizing Republicans stance on Trump and the ACA. Grassley recalled past protests comparing 2009 and this visit while answering about 15 questions at a volunteer fire station.
Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller says he will not defend the state against a suit filed by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Iowa Council 61 challenging the new collective bargaining law. He will seek outside counsel through the Iowa Executive Council.
