U S existing home sales dropped 5.1 percent in January to 4.62 million units, the lowest pace since July 2012, as cold weather and a housing shortage weigh on demand. Sales reflect December contracts. prices rose 10.7 percent year over year to 188,900 dollars.
The Outback Steakhouse at Coralville Valley Market will serve its last meals Sunday after a corporate decision. Managing Partner Chris Riggins says 50 to 60 employees will receive severance and transfers are offered to Cedar Rapids and Davenport locations. The 6,200 square foot restaurant opened in May 2005 and seats about 200.
ADM said it will not accept crops with Syngenta Agrisure Duracade trait due to lack of approval by key import markets China and the EU. Cargill and Bunge also indicated they would not handle Duracade-containing crops until export approvals are secured. The trait is US approved for planting but not for import.
