The Johnson County Board of Supervisors authorized IDOT to install a flashing yellow beacon warning sign north of the Highway 1 intersection with Johnson County Road F-67. The move follows three fatalities since November and at least 14 crashes in five years. The hill north of the intersection could be regraded to improve 680 feet of visibility, but IDOT said it is not immediately feasible despite the supervisors offering to share costs.
