Two Area Scouts Earn Eagle Ranks
Two Boy Scout troop 15 members will receive the Eagle rank at a court of honor at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Rob Roberts age 14 of 212 Twenty-fifth Street Drive SE and Gary Foster age 13 of 2025 Twenty-fifth Avenue Marion are the honorees. Gary joined in February 1972 and serves as senior patrol leader with prior roles and Arrow involvement. he hikers Old Capitol Trail attended Camp Wakonda two summers and earned the mile swim award. Rob joined in September 1971 and has been scribe, assistant senior patrol leader and patrol leader. he is an Arrow member, mile swim award recipient, attended Scout camp three years, and completed NRA marksman requirements. Both are eighth graders at Linn‑Mar and Franklin junior high schools respectively.

Youth Hospitalized After Staggering Overdose Scan
Two people charged with possession of drugs after police saw them staggering in the street remained hospitalized Friday. Robert Slaymaker, 18, was in critical condition at St. Luke's hospital from a possible overdose. A 16-year-old boy was also admitted. Officers found marijuana and hashish on the pair and a white powder of undetermined identity. Slaymaker faced a prior possession charge.

Cedar Rapids High School Band Festival Conductor Named
Donald Jackson, professor of music education at Augustana College, Rock Island, will conduct the Cedar Rapids high school band festival concert Saturday at 8 p.m. in Franklin Auditorium. Jackson, a Midwest festival conductor and clinician, has taught at several universities and served on numerous music education boards. The Jefferson, Kennedy and Washington bands perform with programs featuring English Folk Song Suite, Kismet selections, Fanfare Chorale and Fugue, and an Ellington Portrait. Woman Listed Fair After Auto Crash
Diane Kurdelmeyer an 18 year old of 2981 Sixth Street SW remained in fair condition at Mercy Hospital Friday with head injuries from a two car crash on Bowling Street SW Thursday. She crossed the center line about 180 feet south of the Prairie Creek bridge and collided with Ronald Williams 25 of Mt Vernon who was treated and released from St Luke's for a minor head injury. Police charged Kurdelmeyer with driving on the wrong side of the road.

Two Osage Men Arrested in Decorah on Marijuana Charge
Randall Hoffman and Charles Jacobs both 22 were arrested in Decorah Tuesday on charges of possessing a substance believed to be marijuana.
