Hiawatha to vote on budget March 3
The city plans a $14.7 million budget with no tax rate change for the coming fiscal year though the 2.9 percent increase in taxable assessed value raises the property tax roll. City officials expect about $4.6 million from property taxes and $10.3 million from water sewer charges and other fees. Capital projects total $3.5 million including extending water and sewer service to areas west of I 380. Public safety would receive $2.3 million, debt service $2.6 million, with about $1 million each for recreation and general government.
