Iowa Child Group aims spring 2007 opening near Coralville
Officials of the Iowa Child Institute seek a spring 2007 opening on a site southeast of the I 80 interchange at Coralville First Avenue. The plan relies on 125 million in private donations, 20 to 25 million from federal sources, and 75 million in state funding. Townsend stresses community backing while critics warn funds could impact other local causes. Jean Lloyd-Jones of Iowa City opposes the project, arguing it may limit funding for other worthy efforts statewide.
