Insufficient Funds Delay Cedar Rapids Public Safety Plan
Cedar Rapids officials learned funds will not support a 3.1 million police and fire public safety complex this year. The Iowa Crime Commission said federal law enforcement aid for 1971 will be insufficient for such a grant, with potential relief in 1972 if funds continue. Traffic projects on Mt Vernon road SE and Eighth avenue await 1971 review, delaying T O P L C S funded work and forcing postponement of road improvements and pedestrian overpasses.
