Wellmark to raise Iowa health insurance rates
Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield will raise premiums for about 80 000 Iowans by an average of 18 percent starting April 1. The insurer cites rising health care costs and notes past increases. About half affected buy coverage through the Iowa Farm Bureau. state approval allows increases up to 22 percent for around 44 000 people. Wellmark serves 1.8 million Iowans mostly via employers.
