Obama signs 787 billion stimulus package in broad outline
President Obama signs the largest government rescue plan in U S history a 787 billion mix of spending tax cuts and credits aimed at creating and preserving jobs and accelerating economic transformation. The plan also includes mortgage relief and next phases of bank bailouts and is designed to work with Fed efforts to spur growth. Tax rebates like last year are not included this year as the package frontloads a payroll tax cut delivered through employers.

United Way eyes shared site for human services campus
United Way of East Central Iowa plans a $15 million shared building with four non profits near downtown Cedar Rapids with a second phase a Human Services Campus on land between Seventh Eighth Avenues SE and Third Fourth Streets SE. End of Analog TV Signals Reaches Eastern Iowa
