Meth labs move inside areas as task force responds
Johnson County Narcotics Task Force responded to six labs in January with three in Johnson County, one in Iowa County and two in Cedar County. From July 1 to Dec. 31, 2003, the task force handled 12 labs or cleanup sites. No Iowa City labs were spotted this year. The trend mirrors DEA 2003 statistics showing Eastern Iowa labs rising from 66 in 1999 to 146 in 2003.
