Ground Transportation Center plans approved in Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids City Council approved the schematic design for the Ground Transportation Center's first and second floors amid potential changes to the second floor. Developer Lipsky raised concerns about a skyway, Second Street closure, and logistics, while architect Mendel noted two major design changes including a service road and a single two story lobby. Total public center cost remains about 6.84 million with 80 percent federal funding, local share from various sources, and an additional 3 million for site purchase and relocation.
