Students envision new focuses at old Sinclair site
Cedar Rapids residents, led by local high school students from Iowa BIG, propose a zip line park, white-water rafting area, or sledding hill at the former Sinclair meatpacking plant. A pedestrian bridge concept named Sleeping Giant would connect the site to Mount Trashmore, with flood basin use eyed to offset costs in a $9.7 million revitalization effort supported by the Southside Investment Board and local stakeholders.
