SAN FRANCISCO UP Thomas Henderson Point Sur light station keeper testified to a naval board about the Macon dirigible plunging into the Pacific off the Point Sur coast. Henderson and assistant R H Miller described a fin tearing apart and debris drifting, with the craft rising and then vanishing in a rain squall as objects fell into the water.

Long seeks a special committee for broader Farley inquiries with support from progressive democrats and Republicans, risking collapse of the campaign if records shed no new light.

The American Medical Association House of Delegates adopted a resolution condemning illness insurance and other aspects of the national administration's social security program. It also criticized the Wagner bill provision creating a social insurance board lacking medical personnel.
About 600 inmates at a New Jersey state prison booed and disrupted meals as Bruno Richard Hauptmann, convicted of the Lindbergh baby murder, arrived under heavy escort from Flemington. Guards confined ring leaders to cells for three months as order was restored. Hauptmann, smiling and defiant, faced a crowd of about 1,000 on arrival and later requested a Bible while in the death house.
Harold G Hoffman forwarded a letter from George Spicer of Philadelphia urging President Roosevelt to award the $25,000 reward for capturing the Lindbergh baby kidnapper. Spicer noted Roosevelt issued the gold border that helped Hauptmann’s arrest and conviction.
