Ex-policeman loses suit on medical costs
Former Cedar Rapids officer Michael Nieland and Teamsters Local 238 filed suit in August claiming the Iowa Code requires the city to cover all medical costs for job injuries. Linn District Judge Koehler ruled the city not responsible for disputed costs because Nieland failed to obtain city approval before seeking unauthorized treatment.
