Underground gun range opens in Cedar Rapids
The only public 100-yard underground gun range in the United States opens in Cedar Rapids at Sports Outfitters. Built beneath the parking area, it uses 36-inch sewer tiles as a tunnel with a chronograph and computer to measure velocity, energy and wind drift, aiding handloaders and serious shooters in precise zeroing and sighting.

Turkeys traded for river otters between Iowa and Kentucky
Iowa will swap 32 wild turkeys to Kentucky for 16 river otters as part of a conservation exchange. The Iowa flock exceeds 30 000 birds while Kentucky seeks otters to replenish its population. Otters will be shipped to Iowa in March after turkeys are trapped and relocated locally.

Des Moines Hosts Grand National Wild Turkey Calling Championship
The Grand National Wild Turkey Calling Championships will be held February 22 and 23 at Hotel Fort Des Moines.
