The Milk Fund reports cash and pledges totaling $346 for four months, with monthly pledges from local groups and individuals. A city dairy project will supply milk at eight cents a quart, deliveries starting soon as funds grow, aiding a needy child.
District court hearings reveal that Iowa liquor control officials allegedly engineered a plan to move two barrels of gin owned by a Davenport man into Iowa. Testimony shows letters detailing how to disguise the purchase and shipment to appear legal as the trial continues.
Arthur W. Cutten, a Chicago trader, banned from trading on any grain market for two years by the grain futures commission. The ruling, dated February 12, cites attempts to manipulate prices by concealing transactions on the Chicago board of trade. The commission found 35 accounts across eight firms, with trades split and filched through relatives to conceal activity. During 1930 Cutten controlled over 600,000 bushels of wheat on 130 days without required reports. This marks the second case of trading-privilege denial against a member.

In Flemington New Jersey AP reports that Bruno Hauptmann’s lawyers plan to seek a stay of his death sentence and pursue an appeal to the Supreme Court if needed. Edward J. Reilly says they will challenge the final jury charge by Justice Thomas W. Trenchard, claiming errors in the judge’s instructions and the handling of evidence. The defense notes ex ceptions to the charge and vows to press constitutional questions if applicable.
In a jail interview Bruno Richard Hauptmann urged public and friends to finance an appeal.
