Historic church sale clears way for demolition in Cedar Rapids
The Peoples Church on 600 Third Ave SE faces potential demolition as part of a plan to clear space for surface parking near The Gazette and KCRG-TV9. Although listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the church has received no federal funds, allowing owner freedom to demolish if no federal involvement exists. The church is offered at 795000 dollars and has been for sale for several months as the congregation seeks funds for outreach and upkeep.
