Minister keeps 30000 road maps as his compass of travel
Kirk Perucca, a Shellsburg Presbyterian minister, hoards around 30 000 road maps from all 50 states and many countries. He recalls childhood map hunts, notes maps reveal changing roads and culture, and says the hobby helps him never get lost though he once led a trip to Omaha without a map.

Apples blamed on political murder for slumping sales
Tokyo fruit trader Etsuo Tanaka links declining apple and persimmon demand to the 1960 assassination of Socialist Party Chairman Inejiro Asanuma. He says Education Ministry knife bans in schools hindered pupils from sharpening pencils and peeling fruit, a factor drying demand as those pupils now have families. He notes many traders share this view.
