S. U. S. Organizes First College Bagpipe Unit In United States

Colonel Dailey leads the University of Iowa to form the first college bagpipe unit in the United States. Claire Myers studied in Toronto before teaching five peers since last September. Four to six drummers accompany the pipers as they debut at the Military ball and perform at basketball games and a convention banquet.

Three Men Sentenced For Killing Fish Through Water Chute

Conservation officer Leo Logan reports three Cedar Rapids men Ralph Wells Lowe Coufil and Elmer Heald used two freight car grain doors to form a water chute on McLeod's run to bilk fish. They faced thirty day county jail terms with all but five days suspended. Ellsworth Burlingham was fined ten dollars for illegal possession and Don Stout received a thirty day sentence with five days suspended for snagging fish.

Coe College A Capella Choir To Sing at Vespers

The Coe College a capella choir directed by Prof. Paul S. Ray will perform Stainer Sevenfold Amen at vespers in Sinclair Memorial Chapel this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Dr. L Myron Boozer dean of men will deliver the afternoon address titled The Untouched Portion.
