Hydrogen fuel cells lift corn energy to power homes
University of Minnesota researchers say corn ethanol could feed a hydrogen economy by powering small home fuel cells. A bushel yields triple the power when used in hydrogen cells rather than gasoline, with 1 kilowatt for a typical home. Ethanol could cost about 4 cents per kilowatt hour, competitive with raw energy costs.
