Cedar Rapids educators reject $7,200 starting pay plan

A citywide referendum on a school administration salary plan failed 1,109 to 58. The proposal would raise starting pay to $7,200 with a $100 attendance workshop bonus, while CREA proposed $7,000 starting pay with salary indexing. The two groups planned joint proposals and the district will hear the final recommendations.

Cedar Rapids Approves Bond Delivery for Urban Renewal

The Cedar Rapids City Council authorized Finance Commissioner Stewart Shank to deliver urban renewal project notes totaling 1 070 000 to Bank of America San Francisco and First National Bank of New York. The two bidders offered the low 5.05 percent loan rate, effective through October 16 1970, for Cedar Lake development. Other bids included Chase Manhattan 5.27 percent Morgan Guaranty 5.17 percent Morgan Guaranty and Salomon 5.14 percent and Northern Trust 5.09 percent.

Explosions shake six tax offices in Lyon

Explosions rocked six tax offices in downtown Lyon early Thursday causing minor damage with no injuries. Police said a coordinated gang carried out the attacks as militant farmers protesting tax laws have targeted tax sites in recent months.

Stolen Car Found Fixtures Missing

A 1969 car owned by Linda Pulda of 1640 Fourth Street NW was stolen Feb 2 and recovered by a Linn County deputy sheriff in a cornfield north of Covington Thursday night. The vehicle had been stripped of bucket seats, console, tape player, battery, tires and interior lighting valued at 100 dollars for the audio and lighting. No value given for other items.

Clinton Men Are Fined for Eagle's Death

In Cedar Rapids federal court two Clinton men were fined for the January 10 killing of an American bald eagle near Green Island in Jackson county. Frederick W. Krusher paid $200 and William S. Petersen $100 after admissions related to the crime.

Youths' Tracks In Snow Lead To Arrests

Cedar Rapids police traced fresh tracks in recent snowfall to a youth home after a report of two boys carrying a radiator. The 16 and 17 year olds were questioned and admitted prowling three garages in recent weeks. Three youths remained in jail Friday on larceny charges and were to be released to parents after processing.

UNI Budget Hiked by 91000 for 1969 70

The Iowa state board of regents approved a 91000 increase in the University of Northern Iowa operating budget for 1969 70. UNI President J W Maucker said the funds come from excess fee income and will cover repairs fuel and telephone costs.

DETROIT AP Dodge Division of Chrysler Corp cut prices on all compact Dart models by 155 to 190 dollars to boost competitiveness. The least expensive Dart now lists at 2172 dollars, down from last fall. Some options were made standard or optional, lowering dealer wholesale costs and the day night interior and tires were added as options.
