Endeavour Maps Earth With Long Radar Mast Deployment
The Endeavour crew launches on an 11 day mission to produce the most accurate three dimensional map of Earth using a 197 foot radar antenna mast. Commander Kevin Kregel says the team is ready to map the world as the mast extends and passes stability tests. NASA cut mapping days to nine to allow manual Mast cranking if needed.

Hackers commandeer California computers in denial of service attacks
Washington Post reports hackers used three California universities as launchpads for massive denial of service assaults against CNN com eBay Yahoo Amazon and other sites. UCLA USC and UCSB were affected as attackers redirected vast traffic through compromised campus machines. Authorities say the strikes rely on many server computers and tracing the attackers may be difficult. An internal Yahoo email suggests the attacker is more sophisticated than a script kiddie.
