Linn County General Assistance workers feel strain amid rising demand
Kriss Kraus, director of Linn County emergency financial aid, says staff burnout grows as workload rises with no extra money. The program now serves more than 200 additional people monthly, with rent and utility aid via vouchers totaling in January at 25 221.05. Eligibility targets include single people under 238 dollars monthly income and four person households under 419 dollars. The county boosted the budget with a 100 000 funding from federal revenue sharing to support General Assistance and Veterans Affairs.
