Infant found alive after cold exposure behind gas station
A 6 day old baby survived nearly 29 hours outside in extreme cold after being hidden behind a gas station in Iowa. Investigators found the infant swaddled in blankets inside a plastic box and no special medical issues were reported. The mother, charged with kidnapping, faced possible life imprisonment while FBI and local authorities pursued any other involved parties. The child’s condition was described as active and healthy, with parents picking him up in Iowa City. A grand jury convened and transfer to Wisconsin was anticipated for ongoing proceedings.
