Big Brothers Big Sisters leader targets more volunteers
Anne Knudten as executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Iowa aims to boost volunteer recruitment expand fundraising and provide more support for volunteers and their little brothers and sisters. A former case worker she took over Dec 1 from Chip Hardesty and plans community presentations to increase interest. There is a 75 child waiting list and volunteers must commit two to four hours weekly for at least a year. Bowl for Kids Sake fundraiser is Feb 17 at Westdale and Feb 24 at Town and Country Bowl.

Drunken driving charged after two-vehicle crash
Eugene Wehrheim 45 Solon and Robert Marshburn 28 Rock Hill S C were in a Friday night crash at Ely Road and 76th Avenue W. Marshburn faced drunken driving and license related charges after minor injuries. Wehrheim remained in fair condition at Mercy Medical Center.
