Maternity Leave Policies Take Up Linn-Mar Board
Linn-Mar school board asked its attorney to advise on maternity leave including the possibility of granting leave to men and single teachers. The move followed a request from a teacher for sick leave while having a baby, with debate over pay during maternity leave. The board tabled action pending legal guidance and considered a student survey on a potential physical education swimming program and team at Marion YMCA facilities.

Organisms From Paleozoic Era Brought To Life
Moscow AP reports microscop ic organisms dormant for 250 million years have revived and now reproduce normally. Prof. P Pertilyev says the find may reveal nature's life evolution. Geochemist N Chudinov discovered the organisms while studying red color in potassium ore at the Beranski Potassium Combine in the Urals. Flakes from dissolved rock revealed moss like micro organisms under a microscope, suggesting ancient life forms are revived.
