Cedar Rapids Library Chief Champions Civic Space Over Books
Cedar Rapids Public Library director Peter Pasicznyuk argues libraries are evolving beyond books toward civic centers with open spaces and digital access. He highlights LEED platinum design features, a large youth area, a 150 person conference room, a 200 seat auditorium, and a future of fewer printed volumes. Local directors in Iowa cities like Iowa City and Dubuque note print books remain vital even as e materials rise and facilities adapt to public needs.
