Rezoning plan for SuperTarget fails after neighbor concerns
The council discusses zoning for a SuperTarget at 33rd Avenue SW and Edgewood Road. Despite earlier support from Thomas, councilmember Zahn cites traffic worries and Todd favors keeping zoning industrial.Neighbors have fought the plan since April over traffic and compatibility with the neighborhood. Virgil Dietz says residents are cautiously ecstatic but wary of other future tenants. Attorneys note Home Depot and Menards show interest in the site, which could permit other uses if zoning changes.
