The Firefighter Combat Challenge and Kid's Firefighter Challenge were added to Freedom Festival events for 2011. The daylong races occur July 3 with competitors wearing full gear performing five tasks including climbing a five story tower hoisting chopping dragging hoses and rescuing a life size 175 pound victim. Freedom Festival runs June 12 through July 4.
The Marion Chamber of Commerce invites vendors to apply by 5 p.m. Tuesday for the second annual Uptown Marion Market.
