Hospital officials aim for March regents approval to pursue a 700 million to 850 million expansion and renovation. Rising admissions and aging patients drive the project funded by hospital revenues and philanthropy. The plan calls for demolishing the Center for Disabilities and Development and Parking Ramp 1 northwest of the current site. In 15 to 20 years Boyd Tower may also be removed.

Two-Vehicle Crash Tied To Road Conditions In Cedar Rapids
A semi-trailer failed to stop at a sign on Square D Drive and was hit by an east bound SUV on 33rd Avenue SW. Wayne Brown and Linda Morgan were trapped, extricated, and taken to Mercy Medical Center with Brown suffering substantial injuries. Antanas Sipavicius faces citations pending inspection. Police also report an unrelated robbery arrest of Thomas Horton in Chicago with weapons charges. Horton jailed in Linn County.
