No whistleblower protection for federal baggage screeners
Federal baggage screeners at airports will not receive the federal whistleblower protections afforded to other workers. Transportation Security Administration chief John Magaw cited security risks, saying protections could hinder operations. Magaw and Norman Mineta consider union rights and rapid firing for poor performance, with hiring to begin by March.
