Anti-abortion amendment gains unlikely momentum says professor
Dr. John Noonan, a Berkeley law professor, told audiences at Cornell College and the University of Iowa that the Hatch amendment could win congressional and state approval to restrict or ban abortions. He warned unity among anti abortion groups is fragile and urged Reagan to lead. He argued the 1973 ruling opened abortion on demand and noted most news polls misstate the issue. He cited biased studies and emphasized abortion should be allowed only to save the mother’s life.
