Pioneer Built Farm House From Cedar Rapids Frontier
The Usher farm along the Cedar River, a century old, faces preservation as Seminole Valley park. Seminole Park Farm Inc formed to restore Henry Usher’s homestead with help from architect Dick McGinn and guidance from the late Mrs. Malcolm Thompson Jr. The project seeks to recapture pioneer life from Usher’s first saw mill and farm setup, inviting community participation in painting and landscaping to honor local history.

Preservation drive seeks donations for Cedar Rapids farm display
The group plans to donate pre 1880 furniture and accessories from Cedar Rapids area to open a historical farm to the public. Cash and labor will fund restoration with a barn stocked by farm equipment, poultry, calves and sheep. The Junior League has given 3500 and committees organize decorating and authenticity checks. Donations of merchandise or cash are tax deductible.
