Target data breach linked to vendor connection
Hackers breached Target by using a data link between Target and its HVAC contractor Fazio Mechanical Services to access the payments network. About 40 million card records and 70 million customer details were affected. U.S. Secret Service is investigating. Fazio claims no broader data exposure and cooperates with investigators.

Postal Service narrows losses with surge in online shopping
The U S Postal Service cut its quarterly loss to 354 million in Oct-Dec 2013 from 1.3 billion a year earlier as shipping and package delivery revenue rose 14.1 percent plus 479 million driven by online shopping growth and a Sunday delivery deal with Amazon. The agency cites legacy retiree health funding and calls for legislative changes to enable five day service and its own health plan. Patrick Donahoe says costs are down while package growth rises.
