Cedar Rapids Community School board denied a grievance by about 21 high school custodial and maintenance employees claiming Saturday work should be premium pay. Administration argued Saturday is a regular day due to events and a pilot adjusted work week at three high schools, to help cut costs. The board unanimously rejected the grievance.
The Cedar Rapids Community School Board denied bus service requests from Jackson area and Twin Pines North residents citing Joint County board conclusions that the areas are not far enough from school. The districts will pursue safety steps including pay as you go transportation, crossing guards at key intersections, possible easements, and walking paths with regional partners.
State Rep. Russell Wyckoff planned to fight the Linn county conservation bailout bill as part of a county government subcommittee, but the Senate's identical SF 1014 was sent to the House judiciary committee by Speaker Harbor who labeled it a legalizing act. A subcommittee including Rep. Kevin Kelly and Rep. Michael Kennedy was named to review it.

Six different properties in Delaware county will be sold at public auction for back payment of taxes at 10 a.m. February 22 at the county courthouse, according to the county board of supervisors, which met here Monday.
