Marion residents enjoyed a New Art club gathering at Mrs. Hubert McCalley’s home with Court whist at three tables. Entertainment was led by Mrs. Clarence Meggers and Mrs. Walter Erwin, and the group voted a dollar for a dental medical fund.

The Friendly Guild of the Meth odist church will meet Friday at 2 30 at the home of Mrs. Louis C. Ross 1017 Eighteenth street instead of the home of Mrs. N P Vanderlinden.

Hazel Peddycourt and three Mrs hostesses will lead joint efforts as 15 boys meet with adults at the Methodist church for the reorganization of Boy Scout troop No. 35. The Presbyterian Ladies Aid fourth division held a picnic luncheon at Mrs. P A Osborne’s home with guest Mrs. S A Crouse delivering a reading.

Howard Colwell Hopson a leading figure in Associated Gas and Electric and several relatives and related companies were named in federal tax liens totaling 2 664 954. Liens filed by internal revenue officers James J Hoey and Harold Hickey in New York City and Albany. Associated Gas and Electric top holding network recently filed for bankruptcy in federal courts.

Hansen resigns as city Y M C A boys work secretary

Harry G. Hansen resigns effective March 1 from the Cedar Rapids Y M C A where he has served as citywide boys work secretary for many years. He moves to Chicago to become the North Larrabee Y M C A boys work secretary with his wife Mrs. Hansen and two sons. He has led programs for roughly 1,700 boys aged 8 to 21 and has been active in Kiwanis and church work while holding roles in social service groups.

Moscow Electric Co-Op Plans Cedar River Hydroelectric Project

The Federal Power Commission announced that the Moscow Electric Co-Op of Muscatine Iowa filed a declaration of intention to build a 20 000 horsepower hydroelectric plant on the Cedar River near Moscow Iowa. The generated energy would be absorbed by the Eastern Iowa Light and Power company of the Muscatine municipal system.

Iowa council deadlines for dam project briefs set

The Iowa state executive council gave factions ten days to file briefs on the proposed 3 million dollar dam project. After briefs are submitted, the council will decide whether to grant cooperative permission to proceed.
