Contractor Adkins pleads in derecho area scam case
Scott Gregory Adkins 48 operating as Adkins Home Improvements LLC pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of wire fraud for a scheme that stole more than 177000 from 19 victims including an elderly Cedar Rapids widow who paid over 4000 for roof repair and received no work. He faces up to 20 years in prison with a 250000 fine and three years of supervised release. The scheme spanned December 2020 to March 2022 during the derecho aftermath and tight labor market.
